Looking Beyond Singapore: Your Path to a Global Career Starts Here
For many SMU students, overseas internship programs such as Global Innovation Immersion (GII) and the ASEAN Internship Programme (AIP) are well-known opportunities. However, despite the high level of awareness (90%), few actively pursue them. The SEA Bridge Regional Entrepreneurial Management Trainee (REMT) program offers an exciting alternative for those looking to gain international experience while working with top startups and companies in Southeast Asia.
Through REMT, SMU students can explore Southeast Asia’s business landscape, develop leadership skills, and build meaningful cultural connections—all while gaining hands-on experience in a dynamic and fast-growing market.
SMU students interested in regional business experience can join SEA Bridge through three different pathways:
The AIP allows SMU students to intern with businesses operating across ASEAN, focusing on regional growth strategies, market research, and business development.
More about AIP here.
The GII program focuses on high-growth startups and tech-driven firms, helping students develop an entrepreneurial mindset while gaining valuable industry insights.

Students who have already completed an overseas requirement or prefer to intern remotely can join SEA Bridge on a part-time basis. This allows them to work with regional teams on live projects without needing to travel.
A common misconception is that SEA Bridge REMT is only about management and leadership. However, the program has evolved significantly. The 3 phases of SEA Bridge REMT focuses on:
Many Singaporean students underestimate the value of their Southeast Asian network. SEA Bridge’s REMT program offers more than just work experience; it’s an opportunity to:

Past participants from Singapore Management University (SMU) and top universities across the world from the US, UK, Europe, China and all ASEAN countries, and more have gone on to secure prestigious roles at global firms, launch startups, and lead international expansion efforts.
Our REMT Alumni Have:
As an SEA Bridge REMT graduate, you gain lifetime access to networking events, mentorship programs, and collaboration opportunities with peers from around the region.
Throughout the program, SEA Bridge provides access to exclusive networking events, industry roundtables, and expansion summits, such as ASEAN Future Talent Forum– Connecting top talent with regional business leaders and investors.
💡 “Understanding your target audience before implementing any solution is key. SEA Bridge taught me how to adapt strategies for different partners and students across Southeast Asia."
🙏 “The culture in Thailand has changed my perspective on respect and kindness. While efficiency is a priority, I’ve learned to appreciate the value of interpersonal relationships in business.”
🌏 “To future SMU students: Step out of your comfort zone. We have more opportunities than students in many other ASEAN countries, and REMT made me realize how privileged we are.”
Worried about funding? The Global Ready Talent (GRT) Fund provides financial support to eligible students embarking on overseas internships. **Don’t let cost be a barrier—there are funding options available!**
